I fell in love with psychology in high school. However, I did not decide to be a counselor until losing my mother and witnessing what not going to counseling has cost my siblings. I returned to school to get my bachelor’s degree at Wilmington University finishing in 2015. I then received my master’s degree from Walden University in 2020. While working on my master’s I worked in the mental health field in various positions.
I have worked as therapeutic Support for Families (TSF), as Direct Care Worker for a children’s group home, a Lead Clinician for adult’s with Sever and Persistent Mental Illness (SPMI), as a Mobile Therapist in the community, and as a Social Worker for a psychiatric hospital. This makes my experience varied and gives a different perspective to what helping someone with their mental health looks like.
