“I’d rather be hated for who I am then loved for who I am not” -Kurt Cobain
I believe that early attachment is pivotal to how we successfully interact in our interpersonal relationships. We learn about who we are and our place in the world by mimicking our early environment and experiences. If our foundation is built on fear, feeling unsafe or that our emotions aren’t valid, we will never learn to trust, handle conflict effectively and communicate our needs. I feel it is important to work with clients on rebuilding their insecure attachment and positive parenting to their inner child to help build self-esteem and foster growth toward setting healthier boundaries, more effective communication and conflict resolution. I use cognitive behavioral therapy to help identify negative core beliefs and reconstruct automatic thought patterns to change behaviors.
